Polar Bear Slide eventThe Livermore Area Recreation and Park District operates four swimming pools at two community park facilities in Livermore. The May Nissen Swim Center, located at 685 Rincon Ave., has been part of LARPD since 1962. The District opened the lap pool and activity pool at the Robert Livermore Community Center in 2005.

The Robert Livermore Community Center aquatic area spans 45,000 square feet with a 25-yard-by-33-meter pool available for lap and recreational swimming, lessons, water polo, exercise classes and even kayaking courses. The Center’s zero-depth-entry activity pool has an interactive play structure with waterfalls and water cannons. The pool also includes a 22-foot-long spiral water slide.

The May Nissen Swim Center features an eight-lane lap pool measuring 25 meters long by 20 yards wide. The shallow water wading pool is 20-by-15 yards. The Swim Center is open seasonally for recreational swimming and swim lessons.
