Park History

• 77 acres were purchased from the Tobin family, who asked that the park be named for their relative, Dr. John Robertson, an early Livermore physician and founder of the Livermore Sanitarium (College Avenue and L Street). In 1967 LARPD used $250,000 from the city to buy 12 more acres from the Calderia Family to provide high ground for the rodeo stadium (replacing the condemned facility on Pacific Avenue).
  
  
• In the early 1980s the Livermore Valley Rotary Club helped LARPD and the Rodeo Association with providing night lights in the stadium. The 1987 passage of Proposition G, the Gann tax override measure, provided the $2.2 million to build the soccer complex on the southeast side. It opened September 1993. The $207,000 Equestrian Center Phase I was dedicated Oct. 30, 1993.

Park Information

• Robertson Park, 133 acres that offers a large open turf area, horse trails, hiking/bicycle trails, horseshoe pits, soccer fields and softball areas.
  
  
• The Equestrian Park and Rodeo Grounds, located at Robertson Park, includes two arenas and a stadium, easy access and large, conveniently located parking areas. The open turf area is a 3.5-acre field. The 325-by 150-foot outdoor stadium offers shaded seating for an audience of up to 6,000. Restrooms are adjacent.
  
  
• Two large arenas may be used for show or warm-up sites and can be reserved separately from, or in conjunction with, the stadium. Both arenas have a built-in watering system, which allows for easy dust control. The 300- by 150-foot show arena, with special footing specifically designed for the comfort and safety of horses, seats up to 300 spectators. The adjacent 270- by 140-foot arena provides an additional warm-up area.
  
  
• A special feature of the Equestrian Center, the equestrian wash rack with concrete pad, will accommodate up to six horses at one time.
  
  
• A 40- by 80-foot pole barn is available for rent as well. Electrical outlets in the facility make it ideal for vendors, display booths, demonstrations and hospitality, among other activities. Vendors will also appreciate the easily accessible electrical hookups located conveniently throughout the grounds.
  
  
• Nearby, at the adjoining soccer field area, you will find shower facilities, which can be made available for your use.
  
  
• Robertson Park is conveniently located to allow easy access to the downtown area, lodging, restaurants and wineries; grocery, antique and specialty gift stores; and scenic walking trails.

Drop in Use

• Equestrian arenas are available for drop in use if no events are scheduled. There is a Drop In fee of $5 per horse per day.  For specific schedule information, please see the Robertson Park calendar of events or call the District Office at (925) 373-5700.
  
  
• The stadium is not available for drop in use.
