Originally called "Tire Park" for the tires that constituted its original, low-budget play equipment. Its current name came from a contest conducted among Sonoma Elementary School students. 2.5 acres nearest to Murdell Lane were developed in 1973 and the remaining 3.8 acres in 1990. Site was originally to be adjacent to a 15.5 acre elementary school, but plans changed, and instead the Hofmann Company bought the property for home development.
